Hello, this is Higashi-No-Kumo, head of AI Side Hustle Lab.
On this blog, I fully leverage AI tools like ChatGPT and Gemini for content creation, SEO optimization, and site improvements. This report documents a real-life experiment: testing how far a side hustle blog can grow in the AI era. This is the Week 5 update.

This Week’s Takeaway
1. This Week at a Glance
-
Number of Articles: 72 (+2)
Even while waiting for AdSense review, I added 2 small articles. Major updates were avoided. -
Total PVs: 11 (last week 11 → ±0%)
Traffic remained flat due to limited updates for AdSense review, and natural search growth stalled. -
Earnings: $0
-
AdSense: $0
-
Other: $0
-
For the second consecutive week, revenue is zero, and the pressure and anxiety are growing.
2. What I Did This Week
The highlight of this week was receiving the results of my second AdSense review.
The result was—rejected again.
The reasons were similar to last week:
-
Low-quality content
-
Fails to provide sufficient value to users
These reasons are abstract and difficult to act on.
By consulting ChatGPT and Gemini, I identified a critical issue:
“The category structure is too complex, making the site appear less specialized.”
Specifically:
-
Japanese, English, Spanish categories
-
6–7 nested subcategories
-
For a one-month-old site, this structure looked overly complicated to Google
This week, I implemented the following actions:
-
Set English and Spanish articles to noindex
-
Reorganized categories
-
Optimized indexing for AdSense review
-
Prepared for the third AdSense application
Since major structural changes during review can be disadvantageous, I carefully made adjustments while maintaining stability.
3. Insights, Reflections, and Improvements
This week, my mental state was truly challenged:
-
Fear of being rejected again
-
Anxiety from zero revenue
-
Stagnation from waiting for approval
-
Stress from halting my novel series updates
Above all:
“If I don’t act, I feel anxious; if I act, it may hurt the AdSense review.”
This dilemma is mentally exhausting.
Additionally, by pausing updates too much,
the main content—my original novel series—stopped updating, creating another problem.
If the third review fails:
-
I may pause AdSense review
-
Focus on increasing article volume
-
Return to a more aggressive growth strategy
This will be a major decision point moving forward.
4. This Week’s Takeaway
“Will I be approved by AdSense before the end of the year?”
This anxiety crosses my mind every day.
Still, I am encouraged by AI’s reminder:
“As long as you don’t give up, it’s not a failure.”
For now, I will quietly wait for the third review results,
adjust strategy if necessary, and continue moving forward.
I hope next time brings good news.
Thank you all for your continued support!
