Hello everyone!
I’m Higashi no Kumo, the head of AI Side Hustle Lab.
On this blog, I use AI tools like ChatGPT and Gemini to create articles and experiment with making blogging and online income more efficient through AI-driven methods.
The AdSense Review Results Are In!
After applying for Google AdSense on October 29, the results finally arrived.
Unfortunately… I didn’t pass this time. 😅
It was a bit of a shock, but instead of getting discouraged, I analyzed the reasons for the rejection — and today, I’ll share what I found.
What Is AdSense Revenue Anyway?
In short, Google AdSense lets you earn money by displaying ads on your blog.
Whenever a reader views or clicks an ad, you earn a small amount of income.
For example, if your site gets tens of thousands of monthly page views, you could potentially make anywhere from a few thousand to tens of thousands of yen.
For me, AdSense is planned to become the main pillar of my blog’s revenue.
Three Main Reasons Why I Was Rejected
After reviewing the results, I identified three main issues behind the rejection:
-
The AdSense verification code wasn’t installed correctly
This was the biggest beginner mistake. Even if you think you pasted it properly, some WordPress themes don’t apply it automatically. Always double-check where the code is placed! -
Mismatched Gmail accounts between AdSense and WordPress
I used different Gmail addresses for my WordPress site and my AdSense registration.
Because of that, Google couldn’t confirm that the website actually belonged to me. -
AI-translated posts were flagged as “duplicate content”
I had been translating my Japanese articles into English and Spanish using AI, but the translations were too literal — so Google treated them as identical copies.
That led to a policy violation.
Fixing Everything in One Day
Luckily, I had the day off work, so I spent about five hours reviewing every single post from morning to evening.
I asked the AI to rewrite each article naturally, keeping the same meaning but avoiding literal translation.
I also:
-
Unified all Gmail addresses used across platforms
-
Reinstalled the AdSense verification code properly (double-checked with YouTube tutorials!)
Now the site is perfectly organized and ready to go.
Reapplied — Now It’s Just a Waiting Game!
After finishing all the fixes, I finally resubmitted my AdSense application.
This time, I really hope to get approved!
Since AdSense is planned to be the core of my income model, I’ll keep improving my site until it passes review.
Hopefully, next time I’ll be writing a post titled:
“I Finally Got Approved!”
Thanks for following my journey — and wish me luck!
