Days 3–4 of My WordPress Journey: Publishing My First Novel and Adjusting the Site

AI Blogging & Monetization

Hi, it’s Higashi no Kumo!

I’ve now reached the third and fourth days of my WordPress adventure. Slowly but surely, my blog is starting to take shape — though there’s still so much to master. It’s challenging, but there’s a quiet satisfaction in seeing progress bit by bit each day.

Day 3 – 4 Hours of Work

Today, I created a brand-new category specifically for my original novel. Until now, I had been posting everything together, but since I decided to serialize my stories, it made sense to have a dedicated fiction section.

I also published the very first episode of my novel!

This involved several first-time tasks:

  • Formatting paragraphs and adding visual touches

  • Setting a featured image

  • Assigning the correct category

Each task took longer than I expected, but seeing the story live on my site gave me a wonderful sense of accomplishment. At that moment, I thought: “Wow — my novel is actually online now!”

Day 4 – 6 Hours of Work

On the fourth day, I focused on improving the site’s overall appearance. I worked on:

  • The homepage design

  • Post lists and sidebar layout

  • Adjusting colors and fonts

I also added a Contact page so readers can reach me directly. This made the site feel much more complete.

And yes, I published the second episode of my novel! This time, I added “Previous” and “Next” buttons so readers can easily navigate between episodes.

This way:

  • Readers can follow the series without confusion

  • My site’s engagement should improve gradually

By the way, I already have about a year’s worth of drafts ready. Right now, my focus is on design, usability, and navigation so that future updates will run smoothly.

Thoughts So Far

Even though posting takes a lot of time, the process is rewarding. Creating categories, formatting fiction, and setting up navigation — it’s a lot to handle at once. Yet seeing my blog slowly come together is genuinely enjoyable.

Imagining readers visiting and enjoying my stories makes even the hard work feel worthwhile.

What’s Next

Here’s what I plan to tackle next:

  • Further refining the overall site design

  • Organizing categories and tags more effectively

  • Adding internal links to improve reader engagement

  • Continuing the novel series (I already have drafts ready!)

There’s still plenty of work ahead, but the progress is real. This blog will remain an honest record of a beginner’s journey — from struggles to small victories.

The site may still be messy, but I’d be thrilled if you follow along and cheer me on as I continue to grow.
